Me and you all came from the Sun!

Me and you all came from the Sun!

My thirty-year-old self was almost rebuked by my father when I blatantly told him we are all products from the sun. Just like most of you reading this, are frowning already, I will repeat. All life forms on Earth are products of the Sun.

It all started 4.5 billion years ago, when our solar system emerged out of a dense cloud of interstellar gas and dust. This dense cloud collapsed into a spinning disk of matter that got harder and harder until hydrogen fused into helium at very high temperatures and that’s how the mighty Sun was born.

All the dusty and rocky material that remained after the Sun had formed began to join together and accumulate into bigger and bigger spherical objects to form what we know as planets today, that swirl slowly around the Sun, including our very own Earth. The gaseous material at the furthest end of the Sun’s spinning disk also clamped together to form other large gaseous planets like Jupiter, Uranus, Saturn and other infinite millions of stars.

This baby earth 4.5 billion years ago didn’t have the atmosphere or oxygen like today, and was always actively volcanic. Soon, another smaller planet called Theia crashed into our young Earth, causing it to tilt at 23.50, and also causing it to spin on its own axis in 23 hours and 56 minutes, and just like that, days and nights began to occur. So as the Earth rotates, the region facing the Sun experiences daytime, and the region facing opposite the Sun experiences night time. Fascinating right? This tilting of the Earth also the reason we have seasons.

This epic collision of our young Earth and Theia threw up large chunks of material that also orbited the earth until gravity bound them together into what we know now as the Moon, the same way Earth was born from the Sun, the Moon was born from the Earth.

As the Earth cooled enough, 3.8 billion years ago, gas condensed and Oceans formed, and continued volcanic activity in these oceans caused the very first continents to emerge about a billion years later. It was until 2.2 billion years ago when cyano bacteria appeared in the oceans, which converted the Sun’s sunshine into oxygen via photosynthesis, and now that we had oxygen in the atmosphere, the rest is history.

The atmosphere was now hospitable with oxygen, and all life forms sprouted in the oceans and on land, including plants and various forms of animals that ruled the Earth for long.

Fast forward 66 million years ago, a large asteroid hit Earth in what is present day Mexico. The subsequent effect of that asteroid wiped out all life forms on Earth including dinosaurs, and this mass extinction gave way to modern ecological life forms like Mammals, birds, Apes and eventually humans that emerged about 4 million years ago, in East Africa...probably where I am seated now as I write this.

From walking up right on two legs, to discovering fire and coal to warm ourselves, to the industrial revolution, to the computer and internet revolution, we have exploded, and filled, and ruled the Earth, to 8 billion people today.

That, ladies and gentlemen is how THE SUN gave birth to all of us.

Now, when you study all this science and natural process about how everything came into existence, and one thing stands out! THE ACCURACY. So, whereas science helps us understand the mechanics and processes of the Earth's formation and behavior, it's important to acknowledge the possibility of a larger, divine plan or guidance, which I strongly believe is the wonderful Hand of GOD.

The intricate balance and precision in the Earth's systems, from its tilt to its orbit, the way our celestial planets rotate without collision, the mighty power of gravity that bounds masses together without falling into space, the seasons and the stars, can’t be just SCIENCE. It is a testament to a deeper, universal intelligence or design.

My deeper understanding into this complex web of life and nature, perhaps explains the reason for my humble, unassuming outlook on things most people find pleasure in.

I am one of a few, or many people who find comfort and meaning in believing that there's a greater purpose or presence behind the workings of our universe. I strongly believe GOD commanded, or still commands these beautiful natural processes to take place.

My open-minded self has embraced science and spirituality as complementary aspects of human existence and understanding, and has made me employ a holistic and integrated approach to life. I acknowledge that there are different ways of knowing and understanding the world, and both scientific inquiry and spiritual exploration can coexist and enrich each other.

Congratulations if you read to the end. You’re one of a few open-minded individuals who seek deeper purpose and understanding of life.

GOD BLESS YOU!

Back to my effervescent brew, which is a product of THE SUN!
