Ramesh is an adored richman in Arua. He is respected as the first man
to buy a bus in the region....and he has gone on to amass huge volumes
of property; land, buildings and a garment factory. Children in nursery
schools have officiated a song that says "I want to be rich like Ramesh
when i grow up". His most lucrative business so far is the bus business.
While most people respect and adore Ramesh, this man is the most miserable person in Arua. For while most are enjoying their sleep, Ramesh is in the bus park to see his buses off and on. At 4am when the first bus is departing, Ramesh is there. 10pm when the last bus arrives, Ramesh is there. Such great work ethic! But when on earth does this guy sleep?
Well, that is the paradox of being rich. When Jack Ma, the richest Chinese said he was a happy man when he was still poor, people didn't take himself seriously....but this man is always on the go.....something i believe is a run-off-the-mill convention among all rich people.
I have seen numerous rich people, with all the riches living in discontent and clamoring for more, yet a poor man eats and sleeps in peace. I have read about rich people kill innocent persons, animals and degrate the beautiful natural environment to amass more wealth. I have seen rich politicians who are paid millions of money monthly..go on to embezzle even more which is meant for the poor. Yet a poor person even praises God for the little he has. I have seen rich countries scramble for poor countries and even go at war killing innocent civilians for wealth. I have seen rich men who can't help you with 5k to get food, yet a poor person will even give you 10k if he has. I have seen marriages break....I could go on.........
Thats the irony that sorrounds rich people.
I'm not saying that you remain poor. Work hard and smart to cross that line. But also work harder to devise a way to live happily and peacefully in your riches. If you get chance, amass as much wealth as you can, but don't do it only for you....do it for others as well. Thats where happiness in riches lies. If God has blessed you with riches, use them to reach out to millions who don't have opportunity. The happiness derived from touching a million hearts transcends all the pleasures of this world.
1 Timothy 6:7 tells us that we came with nothing in this world..so we shall leave it with nothing. That should remind us that we are here temporarily.....or perhaps people should take the trouble burrying you with all your buildings and cars and land.
Lets learn to live happily and peacefully in our riches....see you there.
